Celebrating IWD 2023: The Women of SNI

Today, March 8th marks International Women’s Day (IWD) 2023

It is the global celebration of women’s and girls’ achievements, whether social, economic, cultural, or political.

The theme of this year’s IWD is “Every Woman Counts.”

The aim is to remember that all women have a place in every aspect of Canadian society, regardless of who they are and how they contribute.

SPOTLIGHT ON THE WOMEN OF SNI!

Fun fact:

63 % of the SNI team is female!

To commemorate IWD, we’re highlighting some of our women leaders and team members so you can see up close how they’re contributing to a bright future for women.

Favourite part of my job:
I love working with a variety of clients across different industries and regulatory environments, providing a diverse range of projects and challenges. Every day is different, and it never gets tedious.

My experience as a woman in leadership:
I’ve been very fortunate to work for companies that empowered women, and I’ve formed wonderful relationships with supportive mentors and colleagues. This allowed me to have opportunities for career growth and development, and feel a sense of purpose and fulfillment in my work. It's important for me to create a positive and empathetic work culture in order to provide that support to others as well.

I will conclude with a quote that sums it up: “If you are successful, it is because somewhere, sometime, someone gave you a life or an idea that started you in the right direction. Remember also that you are indebted to life until you help some less fortunate person, just as you were helped.” -Melinda Gates

Favourite part of my job:
Having the opportunity to work on all sorts of interesting product labels. Even better if I encounter projects I have worked on in the grocery store!

My experience as a woman in leadership:
A quote I appreciate is: “If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.” I’m thankful for all the strong, intelligent, and successful women I’ve had the opportunity to work with. You have helped me grow in my career so much!

Favourite part of my job:
In my role, I work with clients to develop strategic solutions to regulatory and commercialization hurdles. I’m passionate about the strategic planning element and helping clients develop their commercialization approach using evidence-based clinical research.

My experience as a woman in leadership:
I love this quote: “Do what you love and success will follow. Passion is the fuel behind a successful career.” - Meg Whitman

Favourite part of my job:
I really enjoy handling task planning and organizing day-to-day affairs in creative services and the department’s role within SNI. I’m passionate about implementing strategic plans to help complete projects within scope. I also I thrive in the fast-paced work environment. It allows me to capitalize on my optimism and decisiveness!

My experience as a woman in leadership:
I like to think that my highly empathetic emotional intelligence helps bring a less authoritative and more cooperative vibe to the team dynamics. Our creative services team—and SNI as a whole—has a very family-like feel, and this plays well among all the diverse dynamics.

There is a quote I really love by Amy Poehler that always sticks with me as a reminder to not sweat the small stuff:
“If you can dance and be free and be embarrassed, you can rule the world.”

Favourite part of my job:
I get to work in so many unique areas and actively engage with our team on a daily basis.

We are constantly pushing ourselves to learn more, increase efficiencies, and become the best that we can be.

My experience as a woman in leadership:
Sharing this quote because it’s inspiring:
Passion is energy. Feel the power that comes from focusing on what excites you.”- Oprah Winfrey

From the SNI team, wishing everyone a happy International Women’s Day!
