Today provides an opportunity for each public servant to recognize and commemorate the legacy of residential schools. It fulfills the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Call-to-Action #80 and will serve as a day of remembrance, reflection, action and learning. We would like to honour Survivors, their families, and communities, and ensure that public commemoration of the history and legacy of residential schools remains a vital component of the reconciliation process.
We encourage our followers to join the conversation with your co-workers, friends and family about this inaugural day and what it means for reconciliation in Canada today and tomorrow.
