One out of every five students report being bullied.
Today, team SNI recognizes Pink Shirt Day. Pink Shirt Day aims to raise awareness about bullying in our communities, while raising funds to support resources that encourage self esteem in children.
To date, more than $2 million has been raised, with the net proceeds distributed to youth anti-bullying programs throughout Western Canada.
Did you know?!
Pink shirt day was inspired by an act of kindness in Nova Scotia.
In 2007, Travis Prince and Davis Shepherd encouraged their friends and classmates to wear pink shirts to school after they witnessed a 9th grade boy being bullied for his pink attire.
This year, Pink Shirt Day falls on Wednesday, February 28th.
Team SNI demonstrated their support by wearing a shade of pink (below).
In 2023, individuals in over 180 countries shared their support of Pink Shirt Day!
How Can I Get Involved?
Companies and individuals can take action today by donating directly to the CKNW Kids’ Fund, a registered charity based in Burnaby, BC, Canada.
