What are your favourite kinds of projects to work on at SNI and why?
My passion for food and nutrition really shines when I’m working on technical graphics for food packaging products. The challenge of weighing priorities on a layout that are based on regulation limitations versus brand integrity is a skilled balancing act that requires measured decisions.
I take pride in the way our teams' processes have continuously evolved and become more efficient based on experiences.
Overall, I particularly enjoy when my work requires supporting structured procedures, understanding consumer behaviour, and challenging my comfort zones.
Problem solving is one of my favourite parts about being a graphic designer, so I love getting to work on projects that present me with a new challenge. Whether it’s working to achieve branding goals, formatting large amounts of content in an organized way, or balancing regulatory requirements with aesthetics, I find a lot of joy the problem solving process. Whether it’s working to achieve branding goals, formatting large amounts of content in an organized way that also looks great, or balancing regulatory requirements with aesthetics, I find a lot of joy the problem solving process. I also love picking out typefaces and colour palettes, so if that’s part of a project I’m ecstatic.
I love receiving opportunities to be really creative, when a client comes to us in need of a total label redesign. When we’re tasked to come up with totally new branding for a product, that takes a certain level of trust from our clients and it really does feel like an honor to be trusted entirely with something like that.
Brand identity and presentation matters so much and it’s a joy for me to help our clients come up with a compliant solution they’re thrilled with.
You’re coasting with focus through a layout in illustrator, what songs are on your playlist while you’re working?
My playlist is all over the place and what I’m listening to completely depends on what I’m working on and my state of mind that day. A lot of times it’s upbeat pop music, but I also really enjoy listening to some sort of ambience. Rain ambience, forest ambience, ocean ambience, you get the picture. It’s just so relaxing and I find it doesn’t distract from what I’m doing, it’s just nice background noise.

Choosing the right playlist makes a world of a difference to help maintain a soundtrack for any part of my day.
I like to listen to Philip Glass for non-distracting focus; Some good ole' Stomp & Holler to lift my spirits; I am inspired by Radiohead when I’m feeling creative; and I really love to listen to Joey Valence & Brae or NOFX, to pump me up and get things done on Fridays before the weekend!

Variety is the spice of life.
I love folk, country, hardcore punk, emo, and a little sprinkle of some other miscellaneous genres.
There’s also an album I like called “Mountain Sounds”, which is just an hour and a half of beautiful nature noise.
I enjoy listening to podcasts as well, my favourites are Tooth & Claw, Ologies, and Smosh Reads Reddit Stories.

If you were an animal, what would you be and why?
I think I’d be a flamingo. The only downside to this would be learning to like seafood. If a diet of shrimp (bleh) meant living the rest of my life on a sunny tropical beach right by the ocean somewhere… I’d honestly take it. Google also says they eat fly larvae, that one might be more difficult. On second thought, maybe I’d just be a fruit eating turtle.
~ALEXIS
Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a cat lady. But I don’t think that overall I can identify as a cat in my life outside of home. I'm a lot more of an explorer and I keep very busy. Perhaps I’m an Orangutan. I might come off a bit dopey but I’m actually quite clever. I’m cheeky, gentle, playful and I’m a good problem solver. And of course I love to swing!
~CHRISTEL
As much as I’d like to be a bear (hanging out in the mountains and eating berries sounds fun), I think I align more with raccoons. They’re adaptable, resourceful, curious, clever, and they aren’t exactly willing to be domesticated.
Plus, the idea of having little raccoon paws just sounds fun to me.
