Every year, June 21st marks the annual celebration of National Indigenous People’s Day in Canada--at SNI we join the celebrations!
Each June, Canadians celebrate National Indigenous History Month—an important opportunity to honour the heritage, contributions and cultures of First Nation, Inuit and Métis communities across Canada.
SNI recognizes that our head office is located on treaty 1 territory, the ancestral territory of Anishinaabe, Cree, Dakota, Dene, and Ojibway-Cree, and the homeland of the Metis Nation.
We recognize the resilience and strength of Indigenous individuals around the world.
Indigenous communities and groups have celebrated their culture and heritage on the day of the Summer Solstice for generations. The Summer Solstice symbolizes a “new season of life” to many Indigenous communities.

RECONCILIATION MATTERS
Building a renewed relationship with First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples based on the recognition of rights, respect and partnership will help us all build strong and healthy communities together
Part of the Reconciliation Journey is learning about the impact of the residential school system, the experiences of former students and the 94 calls to action made by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in its final report.
Across Canada, the day is marked by ceremonies and celebrations that highlight cultural performances and activities, displays of arts and crafts, and events that recognize the contributions by Indigenous people.
Join team SNI as we strive to further educate ourselves on the rich and diverse culture and history of Indigenous peoples across Canada.
