Bernie Desgagnés founded Source Nutraceutical, Inc. (SNI) in Winnipeg in 2004 with a clear purpose: to make complex regulatory pathways more manageable for companies bringing health and wellness products to market. Having witnessed the uncertainty businesses faced as Canada’s natural health product (NHP) framework took shape, he recognized the need for guidance that extended beyond interpreting regulatory requirements to understanding how those requirements influence product development, positioning, and commercialization. His experience as an executive within the Canadian NHP industry, his work in sports nutrition and supplement distribution, and 18 years with the Government of Manitoba provided the breadth of regulatory, operational, and commercial knowledge needed to bring that vision to life.

What began as a specialized regulatory consultancy has since evolved into an integrated organization built around the realities of regulated product development. Under Bernie’s leadership, SNI has expanded into four distinct but closely connected divisions: SNI Regulatory Affairs, SNI Clinical Research, SNI Quality Assurance, and SNI Creative Services. Together, these divisions provide a coordinated path from early regulatory strategy and evidence generation through quality oversight, compliant brand development, and market readiness. This multidisciplinary structure reflects Bernie’s commitment to providing clients with comprehensive, connected solutions while reducing the fragmentation that often arises when critical stages of commercialization are managed by separate providers.

As President and CEO, Bernie continues to shape SNI through strategic foresight, entrepreneurial instinct, and an enduring focus on problem-solving. He has assembled a multidisciplinary team that combines specialized technical expertise with an understanding of each client’s broader commercial objectives. Within the company, Bernie is equally well known for his sense of humour, steadfast devotion to protein shakes, and love of animals. His rescue dog, Toby, remains one of the office’s most enthusiastic personalities and can often be found making the rounds in search of attention and a few well-earned pets.
