As part of our efforts to introduce you to the faces behind SNI, we're announcing another issue of INSIDE SOURCE series and excited to exhibit two more members of our amazing team!
Maira Medellin-Peña is our Clinical Trials and Regulatory Compliance Specialist. Maira comes to SNI with a diverse background in research and development (R&D), and has a longstanding interest in the development of natural alternatives in the fight against various acute diseases.
Maira has over 15 years of experience leading R&D teams in the development of antibiotic alternatives targeted to specific infectious diseases. She obtained a MSc in Molecular Microbiology from the University of Chihuahua (Mexico) and a PhD degree from the University of Guelph (Canada). Her M.Sc. and Ph.D. research was focused on understanding the virulence mechanisms of foodborne pathogens and finding natural health products that can prevent these infections. Maira is also an international medical doctor, and holds a postdoctoral fellowship from McMaster’s University in which she studied drug-resistance in superbugs. Maira has authored and co-authored multiple peer reviewed research publications and given oral presentations. In 2018, Maira was recognized for her discovery of proteobiotic molecules used for human and animal health, and received the 2018 University of Guelph’s ‘Innovation of the Year Award’.
Maira wears “many hats” at SNI: leading our Project Coordination Team; supporting regulatory activities within our clinical trials program, and contributing her vast R&D expertise as a Subject Matter Expert within our Regulatory Compliance Team.
Madyson Shauman is our Junior Clinical Trials Specialist, and is eager to continue developing her knowledge of clinical research, regulatory affairs, and project management.
Madyson earned her Bachelors of Health Science (Biomedical Concentration) from the University of Manitoba. She has experience working as a research assistant at the Albrechtsen Research Centre in the Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences.
As our Junior Clinical Trials Specialist, Madyson will be responsible for supporting day-to-day operations at our clinical trial site, as well as supporting regulatory processes for our clinical trials program. She is also the “face” of SNI clinical research, giving a warm welcome to our clinical trial participants at our Winnipeg research facility!
Maira and Madyson are such an important piece of our elaborate and unique team, and we wouldn't be able to deliver the quality of solutions without them. If you think that you’re the right fit for the team at SNI, check out our career opportunities page.
