Health Canada Notice of Proposal to Prohibit the Use of Partially Hydrogenated Oils (PHOs) in Foods
Over the last decade, Health Canada has pursued a varied approach aimed at reducing the trans fat intakes of Canadians. This includes taking actions on things like: mandatory labelling of trans fats in the Nutrition Facts table, setting criteria with regulations for the use of “trans fat free” claims, as well as the appropriation of voluntary targets for trans fats in processed foods guided by a monitoring program.
